DESIGNERS at BAE Systems are appealing to anyone involved in the maiden flight of the Lightning Jet nearly 50 years ago to get in touch.
The inaugural flight of the plane - the first British jet to fly at twice the speed of sound - took place on August 4, 1954.
Now its designers BAE Systems, are appealing for people to write in with their more memorable experiences and stories of the aircraft. Those who are chosen for their 'top tales' will be invited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lightning at Duxford Museum.
