Unsworth v Milnrow
Central Lancashire League
ELECTING to bat first on a damp outfield, the Unsworth opening pair of overseas amateur J.P. Hean and skipper Paul Entwistle, produced a steady start against Storey's accurate bowling at Pole Lane.
The first 10 overs saw the Milnrow side concede just 15 runs.
The first wicket to go was that of Entwistle, who fell in the 26th over for just 16, with the score on 58.
This brought the Unsworth paid man, Robbie MacQueen, to the crease.
The South African pair moved the score along to 140 after 40 overs, before Hean fell for a very useful 54 to Mitchell.
The remaining 10 overs saw the home side add another 10 runs before MacQueen went for 41.
With a run rate of just three-per-over required, the visitors looked to have a relatively straight forward job on their hands.
However, tight bowling from Ian Badenhorst (3-49) and MacQueen (3-48) meant Milnrow were never allowed to get too far ahead, and with seven overs remaining they still required 31 runs.
Due to some excellent home fielding, that then became a run-per-ball of the last two overs.
Needing a boundary off the last delivery after Wakefield was run out, a big hit over the bowler's head saw Storey caught by Paul Manley a yard inside the sight screen, for a welcome, if unlikely, victory for the home side.
UNSWORTH: P.Entwistle (C), P.Manley, A.Badenhorst, G.A.Jones, G.KJones, B.Hamilton, J.Wiggins, S.Barlow, C.Campbell, J.P.Hean, R.MacQueen
