SCOTLAND, Wales and Northern Ireland each have their own Secretary of State, so is it not time for England also to have its own Secretary of State?

We also need our own English Parliament, say in Birmingham, England's geographical centre. As for the proposed English regional assemblies these would be little more than talking shops with no real power.

What is absolutely disgraceful is that the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Conservative parties have absolutely no intention of rectifying the blatant imbalance in our political structure, as a result of devolution in which England is now very much second best.

JOHN PORTER, Thwaites Road, Oswaldtwistle.
