A SNAPSHOT of the bygone days of Lancaster has been selected to feature in a national photo album.
The picture of a Lancaster tram decorated for the Coronation of King George V in 1911 has been donated to the first-ever HP National Photo Album.
The treasured family snap was given by Andrew Ball after he stumbled across a website pleading for interesting pictures.
It shows his great grandfather Hugh McGuire standing by the Lancaster tram.
The picture was taken, probably professionally, at the tram sheds in Thurnham Street before the Coronation.
The digital photography company HP still wants people to rummage through attics and dig out old photograph albums to help create an archive of striking and historically interesting images.
It is hoped that over time the HP National Photo Album will become a valuable resource for schools, researchers, the media and the public.
