Leyland managed to hold out for a draw against an impressive Barrow outfit.
Barrow batted first on a slow pitch which didn't offer much help to the bowlers and their strong batting line-up posted a score of 225 for 9 in their 55 overs.
The innings built around a fine innings of 61 from Riley who was helped by Grenadian professional Rawl Lewis who hit two towering sixes over the clubhouse in his score of 27.
Leyland never really looked like getting close to the total especially once skipper Mercer was cleaned bowled cheaply going for a big hit although Patel steadied the ship before falling LBW.
Barrow pro' Lewis caused problems for all the batsmen and they eventually struggled to 144 for 8 at the end of play.
Leyland captain Mercer said after the match: "I was disappointed with way we played but all credit to Barrow who handled the conditions far better than us."
Leyland Motors had no answer to Lancaster's guest professional Franklyn Rose as the former West Indies international took five wickets for 47 as Motors struggled to a score of 117 all out.
Lancaster passed the target for the loss of just three wickets.
