MULLARDS of Blackburn held an open day which was "an unqualified success" with more than 10,000 visitors. The event was the climax to a week of celebrations by the electrical firm to mark its 40th anniversary, with the aim of raising £6,000 for a closed circuit TV system for the Accident & Emergency Unit at Blackburn Royal Infirmary. Along with demonstrations of the firm's manufacturing processes there were sideshows, exhibitions and a military band.
