WHEN wearing my British Legion badge I am often approached by people asking if the Morecambe and Heysham branch is still going - and the answer is very definitely yes, it is a very active group.
We have a full committee of dedicated people who meet every second Sunday in the Sea Cadet unit in Pedder Street, Morecambe, and who are always looking for ex-service men and women, whether they are from the Army, Navy or RAF, to join the branch.
We have a welfare committee which is there to help people where necessary, but we also offer comradeship and a full diary of events throughout the year - including, of course, the major annual poppy appeal.
Anyone who wants to know more about the British Legion locally can call me on 07977-061814 and I will try to answer any questions.
You should know that we also help the families of ex-service men and women where possible. Why not give us a try.
Les Croombs, Royal British Legion.
