IT WAS contrasting fortunes for the three Fylde Coast teams in the Northern Premier League last weekend.

Blackpool upset the formbook with a win over last season's champions Darwen. Blackpool's 154-6 owed much to substitute professional Charles Dagnall, 48, and new recruit Tim Barry, 43, while Steven Croft chipped in with a useful 25. Croft then demonstrated his all-round ability by claiming 5-32 as Darwen were bowled out for 126 to lose by 28 runs.

At Vernon Road St Annes and Lancaster provided a spectators' delight by serving up a tied game. Renier Munnik made 102 not out in Lancaster's 193-5 while Gareth Evans replied in kind with 101 in the St Annes total of 193 all out. Jimmy Adams took 2-45 and scored 25 for St Annes while Ben Simm took 5-71 for the visitors.

Fleetwood could just not complete victory against Kendal and had to settle for a draw with the last pair at the crease. Michael Dewhurst, 62, was the mainstay of their 157 all out and then professional Doug Marillier, 6-50, reduced Kendal to 131-9 but it was to no avail as Kendal took five points to Fleetwood's nine.
