IT'S decision time at Bloomfield Road this week, as several out of contract players considered new deals with the Seasiders.

Around half a dozen of the 13 out-of-contract players are understood to have been offered new deals with decisions expected within the next few days.

Mike Flynn has already indicated that he will sign up shortly, but the rest of the players are staying quiet on their future plans.

Those players who haven't been offered contracts are almost certain to be saying their goodbyes within the next couple of weeks.

Relegation-threatened Peterborough come to Bloomfield Road on Saturday. Barry Fry's side are outside the drop zone only on goal difference at the moment. Blackpool's injury problems are continuing, with Pedro Matias the latest doubt after limping out of Saturday's game with Chesterfield.

That could mean opportunities for more Bloomfield Road youngsters. Schoolboy Sean Clancy has already made his debut this season, while Saturday's game saw an introduction for Liverpool-based teenager, Andrew Mangan.

The young striker has become a regular in the reserves this season, and was on his way to Shrewsbury for a youth team game when he was told to report to Saltergate as Mike Sheron had been called away for family reasons.

He came on for the disappointing Matthew Blinkhorn for the last quarter of an hour and livened up Pool's attack, going close with a volley.

Blackpool were behind after striker Glynn Hurst squared for an unmarked Derek Niven to score .

The drama wasn't over as, in the closing stages, Phil Barnes earned himself a red card after tripping Marvin Robinson in the area.

With no goalkeeper on the bench (and all three subs used) the Seasiders were again forced to bring in a ringer. On this occasion, Steve Elliott was given the gloves and promptly saved Hurst's spot kick. The spot kick wasn't the best, but credit to Elliott for being on the ball and making the stop.

Barnes' suspension is due to kick in for the game against Bristol City a week on Saturday. With Lee Jones still struggling with a hip injury, McMahon may be forced to turn to teenager Lewis Edge, who has put in some promising performances for the youth and reserve teams this year. However, with both senior goalkeepers unavailable, the Seasiders may be entitled to special dispensation to bring in another keeper if they choose.

Seasiders stars, Scott Taylor and Richie Wellens, were officially honoured with places in the PFA's division two team of the season at the players' award dinner on Sunday. The pair are also vying for several Seasiders player of the season awards, along with defender Mike Flynn.

Speculation linking Wellens with Fulham and several other higher division clubs has been played down by Bloomfield Road chiefs, who have denied receiving any bids for the talented skipper.

Professional rugby league returns to Bloomfield Road on May 30. Oldham Roughyeds take on Batley Bulldogs to complete a weekend rugby league double-header, following on from the national amateur cup final which takes place in Blackpool for the third year in succession the previous day. The Roughyeds play most of their games at Boundary Park, but essential maintenance work is taking place at the Oldham FC ground that weekend.
