A TV programme's investigation into alleged terrorist activities followed one suspect to an address in Prestwich.

The Tonight with Trevor McDonald programme on ITV last Monday, alleged that a man had recruited would-be terrorists from Britain and arranged for them to receive training abroad.

Viewers saw journalist Michael Nicholson confront a man on the doorstep of a house in Prestwich.

The location was not revealed on the programme, and the man's identity was protected for legal reasons. The house is not believed to be the man's residential address.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "In Bury, there are a small proportion of criminals who seek to disrupt everyday life. Bury Police have strong links with local communities, built up over many years and we work closely with them to protect and reassure all those in the borough.

"Speculation about the alleged involvement of individuals in criminal activity is unhelpful and can damage the trust that our communities have worked so hard to build, particularly in response to recent national and international events."
