POLICE swooped on four more Blackpool houses yesterday (Wednesday) in the latest dawn drug raids, arresting five people on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs.
A convoy of police vehicles carrying CID officers, dog patrols and other specialist officers set off from Blackpool Central police station, Bonny Street, just after 7am. It targeted addresses in the town centre, and in Claremont, Park and Warbreck areas, where search and arrest teams and drug detection sniffer dogs swung into action. A sixth person was arrested in Liverpool and brought to Blackpool for questioning.
The raids, witnessed by local councillors, formed part of Operation Nimrod, Lancashire's ongoing drug-busting operation. Immediately after the raids a Blackpool Police spokeswoman said: "Today's successful arrests have once again been thanks to a great deal of support from the local community and many of our partner organisations and follows months of evidence gathering on alleged drug dealing by officers."
And she asked anyone with information about other suspected drug dealing to contact Blackpool Police on 293933 or Crimestoppers (in confidence) on 0800 555 111.
