BACUP Borough Football Club were celebrating today after winning the North West Counties League Challenge Cup.
The team were to parade the cup around West View after their final league game of the season against Warrington Town. Bacup won the cup last week by beating Newcastle Town 3-0 in the final at Southport's Haigh Avenue.
A celebration was to be staged in the Martin Peters Sports Bar from 5.30pm with entertainment provided by The Session, formerly J T Blues Band, a Bacup-formed band.
Manager Brent Peters said: "History has been made. I am really proud of what has been achieved. The whole team have worked incredibly hard this season to do an exceptional job. I am really proud of them all. The hard work isn't over. I plan to really go for it next season."
He added: "Everybody is invited to attend the event after the match.
"There will be plenty going on throughout the night to celebrate."
