THE grand opening of Rawtenstall's long awaited multi-million pound re-development of Ilex Mill will take place next weekend.

The Victorian Grade II listed mill, which has been transformed into luxury exclusive living spaces is due to be launched on May 8 and 9.

P J Livesey Living Space Limited, based at Trafford Park, Manchester, are opening up their new show apartments for the public to explore at the launch weekend.

The development has already won praise from locals who have been blighted by the derelict mill for decades.

The new Ilex comprises of 92 apartments, 20 of which have already been snapped-up by eager buyers.

One of the Bacup Road development's main selling points is that it is situated in a gateway position on one of the main approaches to Rawtenstall with direct links to the motorway network.

Developers said security was a key factor in the transformation of the mill which includes an electronically-operated gated system and audio-entry systems.

Prices at the former cotton and weaving factory start from £108,000 to six luxury penthouses at prices up to £243,500.
