REFERENCE Adrian Shurmer's letter (LET, April 29), regarding alleged hypocrisy in enforcement of speed limits.
Mr Shurmer is out of date with his views about what is acceptable in relation to drivers travelling at excessive speed.
For some years now, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has been promoting the 'Safe Driving for Life' campaign.
Learners have it instilled in them that speeding is thoroughly irresponsible under any circumstances, and is also anti-social behaviour.
With the year on year downward trend in ill-disciplined behaviour by a large percentage of the general public, those who choose to ignore speed limits can expect to pay the penalty.
They have thus far, selfishly raced along the roads with not an iota of consideration for other innocent road users. Now they are going to learn the hard way and rightly so.
Eventually, after much financial pain through paying fines, they will get the message and change their attitude, and learn to become good citizens. Until they do so, they deserve to be squeezed until their pips squeak!
More cameras the better!
