PEOPLE with hearing problems are invited to an advice session to be held on Thursday May 6 at Whitefield Library.

The event is hosted by Bury Council's sensory impairment team to help mark national Hearing Awareness Week.

Specialists from the audiology department at Fairfield Hospital and the council have got together with British Telecom and the Royal National Institute for the Deaf to offer information on how people can make the most of their hearing.

Some 15 per cent of the population has some degree of deafness, ranging from the one in every 1,000 born profoundly deaf to the eight in every 100 who are hard of hearing.

The event is held from 10am to 3pm and visitors can see some of the equipment available to help.

Another event will take place at Tottington Library on Tuesday, June 15.
