A 36-YEAR Burnley man was arrested last night after he threatened to jump from the town's viaduct.
Trained British Transport Police negotiators were called in to entice the man to come down from the railtrack near Burnley Barracks station.
Officers said the man was upset after an incident involving family.
The scene was cordoned off by police as a precaution in case the man did jump.
Inspector Richard Clare said: "We were called to the incident at about 5.20pm.
"The drama was over by about 7pm after the man decided to come down.
"He was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident and an incident involving his family which occurred earlier that evening."
He was taken to Burnley Police Station where he was held in custody overnight.
Police were expecting to question the man later today.
