IN a match of rapidly changing fortunes, Chorley twice hauled themselves into a strong position without being able to retain control and went down to Netherfield by 53 runs at Windsor Park.

The visitors made a flying start with a quickfire opening stand of 64 before slumping to 101 for 6.

Craig Walmsley hit 43 early in the innings but Gareth White (50) led the late recovery and Netherfield finished on 172 all out.

Chorley's teenage spinner, new recruit Nick Woods, captured 5 for 56 and professional Stephen John claimed 3 for 34.

Chorley were soon in trouble in reply at18 for 3 but Ian Mawdesley and skipper Nigel Heaton steadied the innings and then Heaton and John took the home side to a promising 101 for 4.

But when Heaton's attractive knock of 50, containing eight fours, was ended, John was promptly dismissed also and the innings disintegrated as Chorley were bowled out for 119.
