ROSSENDALE Council is helping drive forward the Landlord Accreditation Scheme, which is aimed at improving conditions in the private rented sector.
The scheme is voluntary and its purpose is to raise the standard of the private rent sector by setting out minimum design, safety, contractual and service delivery standards that tenants can expect when they rent accommodation.
Landlords can use the accreditation to promote their premises as part of their lettings service when they are members of the Accreditation Scheme.
Accreditation is part of the Rossendale Borough Council's Private Sector Housing Renewal Policy and Strategy and overall Housing Strategy.
The authority is working together with four East Lancashire councils, including Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, and Pendle on a project to improve private rented accommodation across the boroughs.
