THE landlord of a pub has reassured residents about plans to open late at night and to hold live music.
An application for a public entertainment licence has been submitted to the council by the Hargreaves Arms, Manchester Road, Accrington.
But residents have written to the council to object. Two householders are not happy, and say the move could lead to noise and disturbance until late at night, with taxis coming and going as well as revellers.
The application will be considered on Friday, and if passed, the pub will be able to open until midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and 1am on Saturday.
But Colin Eastham, licensee of the Hargreaves Arms, has reassured residents, saying the pub will keep locals in mind.
He said: "We are hoping to have karaoke and artists on. It will vary but it will be nothing too loud. I have already spoken to the taxi companies and they're not going to beep their horns.
"With it being so close to the police station, there is no bother in here anyway. The younger ones come in here, but they go into town at about 10-ish. The police are happy for it to go ahead."
A report to be considered by Hyndburn Borough Council's Judicial Committee on Friday reveals the police and fire brigade have raised no objections.
