REBECCA White finally achieved her first legal triple jump of over 13 metres when she won the British Universities Championships at Gateshead.
The clearance of 13.02m put her tenth in the all time National Rankings List and lifts her to the top of this year's standings with Ashia Hanson still to jump outdoors.
It was her 12th BUSA Championship gold medal in her last Championship and she also took silver in the long jump with 6.09m.
Sadly, the meeting at Gateshead was overshadowed by the death of England Junior International Ed Prickett, who was involved in a road accident outside the stadium while warming down after winning his heat of the 5,000m.
Personal bests
THERE were personal best performances all round for Hyndburn Athletic Club at the Bank Holiday Meeting at Trafford.
Eight athletes set new marks with Curtis Pearce also a race winner. The under 15 lowered his best by a second to 2:08 in the 800m while Nathan Riding in second clocked 2:15 for a nine-second improvement.

Athletes from Park High School and Pendle also lowered their personal best times at Trafford.
Only a week after running 2:21.9 for the 800m, Park High under 15 prospect Tiffany Boswell clocked 2:21.5 to finish second.

Pendle's Ben Lindsay set his best time of 2:03.4 in winning the under 17s 800m and while Eleanor Markendale's long jump of 5.18m was not a PB, it won her the under 15s contest.
