BARRY Ferguson will not feature in Scotland's end-of-season friendlies.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder has been left out of the Scots squad for the games against Estonia and Trinidad and Tobago at the end of the month.

Manager Berti Vogts had been hoping to recall Ferguson to his squad for the first time since the player broke a kneecap against Newcastle in December.

But the German has been told by Rovers manager Graeme Souness that the 26-year-old requires another small operation which will put his rehabilitation on hold until the end of the month.

Vogts said: "I spoke to Graeme Souness and he told me that Barry needs another small operation so he will not be back in full training by the end of May.

"However, I am confident that Barry will be with us for the game against Hungary in August and our opening World Cup qualifier in September against Slovenia."

Ferguson is expected to be back to full fitness for the start of pre-season.

Rovers' Player of the Year night on May 12 will include the 'Up and Coming Stars' forum which had to be cancelled last month due to players' international commitments.

Paul Gallagher, Jonathan Stead, Jonathon Douglas and Jay McEveley will face questions from supporters.

The Young Guns' event will be followed by the official Supporters Association and Junior Rovers Club 'Player of the Year' presentations.

Several first team players are expected to attend. Admission for members is £2, on production of their membership cards, and £3 for non-members.

Supporters who bought tickets for the original 'Up and Coming Stars' date in March may use them to gain admission for the night.
