THE proprietors of the Kings Arms pub, in Mill Street, Padiham, have applied for a Public Entertainment Licence. The application will be considered by Burnley Council on May 20.
Anyone who wishes to object can contact the licensing manager at 20 Nicholas Street, Burnley.
THE Mayor of Padiham, Coun Bob Clark and the mayoress, Hazel Rushton, will hand over their chains of office on Monday at the concert hall of Padiham Town Hall at 7pm.
They have had a fantastically successful year of office, during which they have raised around £5,000 for their Padiham Community Fund. They have assured their hard work will continue.
The present Deputy Mayor of Padiham, Coun Mark Jinkinson, and his wife, Denise, will be installed as new mayor and mayoress at the Ceremony of Mayor-making.
Refreshments will be served at the end of the official activities.
PC LISA Hodgkinson was delighted with the success of her litter pick, which she had organised at the railway line area around Pendle Baptist Church.
Around 35 children and 15 adults, including the mayor, Coun Bob Clark, the mayoress, Hazel Rushton, and Coun John harbour all worked together to clean up the area.
They were given tea and coffee donated by the Co-op supermarket in Padiham.
PC Hodgkinson is so enthusiastic about the venture's success that she is hoping to arrange more in the future.

HAPTON residents who are concerned about the amount of tipping that occurs in and around the village should contact Burnley Council on 425011 and also the Environment Agency on 0845 9333111, which deals with large-scale dumping.
PLANNING applications received by the parish council include the erection of a conservatory to the rear of 31 Schoolhouse Fold. There were no objections from the parish council.
Neighbours at 57 and 59 Printers Fold each wish to build a two-storey extension to their houses. There were no objections.
Further building on Printers Fold with a conservatory to the rear of 150. Once again the councillors had no objection.
A garage is to be built at 6 Castle Clough Cottages on Scarth Lane in Hapton.
Concern over m-way short cut
LIBERAL Democrat councillor Peter McCann and local resident David Bradley, of Manchester Road, Hapton, have been working in the area.
Grave concerns have been expressed by residents about the amount of heavy traffic using the road as a short cut to and from the motorway, especially at night.
They will bring their findings to the next meeting of Hapton Parish Council on May 11 but say that they have collected the names of many concerned residents.
