OUTDOOR types can make the most of summer with the news that over £41,000 will be spent on improvements at Tyldesley Park.

New lighting and trees, a floodlit multi-use ball court and shelter plus footpath and drainage improvements are planned.

The Community Safety Group will fund new street lighting and ward councillors Stephen Hellier, Alan Stephenson and Brian Wilson earmarked Brighter Borough money for ball court improvements.

Wigan Parks manager Andrew Haworth, said: "The ball court has been popular since we built it two years ago. The extra funds means we can provide floodlights for evening games and a small shelter."
