CHEERING on a friend or family member during Cancer Research UK's Race for Life event is something that can mean so much to those taking part.
For participants, hearing a personal 'good luck' message over the on-site PA system while trying hard to complete the 5km race, can make all the difference.
That is why the Preston event's DJ/commentator, Paul Booth, has agreed to read out any messages of support received by the Citizen prior to the race at Preston Sports Arena, Tom Bensom Way, Cottom, on Sunday, May 2.
While Paul gets plenty of spectators shouting out their messages of support for participants, on the day, he is urging people to write in with personal 'good luck' cheers.
"If people can't make it to the race for one reason or another, but want to submit a message of support for a loved one taking part, then I'll do my best to get through as many of them as possible," said Paul.
"But I'd urge as many people to come along if they can. It's a good family day out and raises money for a very good cause." Messages of support, including your full name, address, telephone number and the name of the person who the message is for, can be posted to Jane Willis at the Citizen, 3 Winckley Court, Chapel Street, Preston, PR1 8BU.
Women have just a week to enter the Tesco-sponsored event, supported by the Citizen.. Log onto www.raceforlife.org or call 08705 134 314. Application forms are also available from our offices at the address above.
