THE headteacher of a Burnley high school has resigned to take up a job in West Yorkshire.
Stephen Ball has been the headteacher at Ivy Bank Business and Enterprise College for the 10 years. He started at the school 17 years ago as the deputy head and was prompted in 1993.
He will leave the school in late August to take up his new post at Calder High School, in Hebden Bridge.
During his time at the school Ivy Bank won specialist school status and became a business and enterprise college.
Mr Ball said he would be leaving the school with a heavy heart.
He said: "I love the place and I love the people but this was too good an opportunity to turn down.
"I am very proud of what we have achieved here because we became one of the first specialist schools in the area."
