VILLAGE life was disrupted by rowdy youngsters at the weekend, but it was all above board as part of a national event.
Children in Simister were given the green light to raise the roof and make as much noise as they wished as they took part in fun activities.
The event, which lasted from Saturday to Monday (May 1-3), was organised by Prestwich and Whitefield Methodist Churches and the youth service, and was part of the National Noise Weekend.
The National Noise Weekend is an event arranged by Christian organisation, Soul Survivor, and simultaneous activities were taking part throughout the country.
Youth workers welcomed around 70 youngsters over the weekend to Lady Wilton Hall, in Nutt Lane, where they took part in arts and crafts, face-painting and group games.
Organiser Vron Shears, who is a youth worker for Prestwich and Whitefield Methodist Churches, said: "We were looking for somewhere to stage this event and the local youth service suggested Simister as there are few facilities for young people in the village. It turned out to be very successful and the children really loved it. It was very encouraging."
