SIXTEEN-year-old Sam Cadwallader was the hero of the day as PNE Women's FC kept their treble hopes alive when they beat Rochdale 3-1 in the League Cup final.
Shortly after coming on as substitute she picked up a loose ball in the box on 82 minutes and smashed the ball into the back of the net to put the Whites ahead.
Fiona Dransfield had opened the scoring in the first half but the Whites conceded a sloppy goal on 65 minutes. After Cadwaller's heroics Michaela Barlow put the tie beyond doubt on 90 minutes, turning in a cross from Dransfield, to make it 3-1and time for the celebrations to start.
PNE WFC now look forward to a chance at the treble on Sunday in the Divisional Cup final at Irongate, Bamber Bridge. Standing in their way are Warrington Ladies. Kick-off is at 3pm.
