I WOULD like to take this opportunity to place on record my sincere congratulations to the hierarchy at Lancaster and Morecambe College for finally achieving their long-term aim.
They have got the college in debt to the tune of £2.7 million and succeeded in closing the Poulton Road site, the Heysham centre and Carnforth computer centre.
They have also succeeded in getting rid of the college's crown jewels, the experienced staff who have served it so well for so many years.
They would like everyone to think that a down-turn in course attendances and trends are to blame.
However, I attended a course at Poulton Road this year that had 45 students - and it was far from the only well attended course at this site.
They would also like us to believe the blame for this massive debt lies with the old regime. However, I believe the people responsible for this debt are still in their jobs.
Credit where credit is due, I always say. I congratulate them on a job well done.
John Scaife, Carnforth
