SEASIDERS boss, Steve McMahon, has left the club by mutual consent after a series of disagreements with chairman, Karl Oyston.
McMahon, who is now being strongly linked with the vacancy at Burnley, said his goodbyes to staff on Thursday evening after three days of meetings with directors.
Both sides made every effort to appear amicable -- despite a series of rows over finances in recent month, which saw McMahon dramatically withdraw a previous resignation in January.
"It has been a fantastic four and a half years," said McMahon: "We have enjoyed a lot of success both on and off the field.
"I have been proud to be part of the on going improvements at the club. During my time here, the supporters have been fantastic and are a credit to the club, whilst they have that support I am sure they can go a long way."
Oyston added: "I would like to place on record the gratitude for all Steve's efforts over the last four years.
"I feel the club has come a long way both on and off the field during this period and following amicable discussions, we felt it was in the club's best interests for any change to be made with immediate effect."
With McMahon's assistant, Mark Seagraves, also leaving, senior players, Mike Flynn and Simon Grayson will be in charge for Saturday's game at Bristol City -- a game the home side need to win to have a chance of securing promotion.
