Clarets supporters groups have called for fans to bury their differences over Stan Ternent's departure and give the team a rousing send-off at the last match of the season this weekend.
Fans' groups have given a mixed reaction to the news that the club are searching for a new manager following the decision not to renew Ternent's contract, but today called for a good reception at his last game in charge against Sunderland.
Although some supporters have backed the outgoing manager, others have welcomed news of his departure and said it is time for the club to move on.
Ternent will lead the Clarets out for the final time at Sunday's end-of-season clash against Sunderland at Turf Moor.
Tony Scholes, of Clarets Independent Supporters Association, said: "I hope Stan gets a good reception from the fans at the last match of the season.
"Whatever you think about his management style, he was a success and he deserves a good send off.
"Results speak for themselves and I believe he is one of only four managers in Burnley's history that have left the club in a higher position than where they found it."
However, Bev Todd from Rossendale Clarets, said: "When we were travelling back from the game at Rotherham last weekend, which we lost 3-0, everyone was so disappointed with the way the team had played and really felt it was time for a change.
"When the news broke that Stan's contract was not being renewed I had so many phone calls from people agreeing with the club's decision.
"We need someone who can take the club forward, someone younger and who has fresh ideas - Martin Keown, or someone in that mould, would be ideal.
"I just hope that the fans on Sunday don't get on chairman Barry Kilby's back about Stan because he has done an awful lot for this club."
Chairman Barry Kilby broke the news to Ternent, 57, earlier this week that his contract would not be renewed - just hours after the manager celebrated keeping the Clarets in the First Division, an achievement he described as one of his greatest as a manager.
