THERE hasn't been a Roman invasion north of Bury but the Gladiators have certainly arrived!
That's the name that's been chosen for Greenmount CC's newly-constructed junior cricket section.
The Bolton League club have always had a fine record of producing young cricketers, many of which have progressed to the professional ranks, and officials are hoping that continues with this new initiative.
A new-look coaching plan has been developed in conjunction with the club's six qualified ECB level 1 coaches, going from basic skills through to intermediate and advanced, with members continually assessed along the way.
Newly-signed Indian professional Nishit Shetty, who has a level two certificate, is also keen to share his expertise with the bat and ball and will be on hand to guide young players.
The overall aim is to create a centre of excellence for junior cricket and develop under-11, 13, 15 and 18 squads to enjoy the game and compete at the highest level.
