A 28-YEAR-OLD man thrown out of a Blackburn pub armed himself with a metal bar and stood outside, a court was told.
Blackburn magistrates heard that when he was approached by four men from inside the Atlantic pub, John Damian Hughes raised the bar above his head and began to brandish it towards the men.
But police who were on the scene intervened and arrested Hughes before anyone was hurt.
Hughes, 28, of Agnes Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to affray. He was made subject to a community rehabilitation order for 18 months and ordered to pay £50 costs.
John Wood, prosecuting, said police were on duty in Mosley Street when they saw Hughes standing in the doorway shouting and waving his arms.
"It appeared he had been ejected from the pub and was angry about that," said Mr Wood.
As the officers watched, Hughes went down a back alley and emerged holding a piece of wood. He went back into the alley and this time came out holding the metal rod and stood facing the pub.
