THE proposal by PM Tony Blair to nominate Chris Patten for Romano Prodi's job as President of the EU Commission bodes ill for democracy, as Patten is demanding that British schoolchildren be 'brainwashed into worshipping Brussels'.
This promotion is just one more elevation of a failed politician to a virtual un-elected position of dictatorship in an ever expanding EU.
One remembers only too well the 'crocodile tears' shed by Mr Patten when the Union Flag was lowered in Hong Kong when he was governor there, his efforts to get our revered national ensign replaced by a non-flag of a non existent European State ever since, shows he has learned one lesson from the Chinese communists.
Namely that in a totalitarian state, there is no room for true Democracy.
