OF late we have been continually reminded of the amount of claims against the council for defective pavements.
This is of little wonder, since the council does not do a decent job when, supposedly improving this situation does, in fact, leave them in a worse state than before starting.
Four times in the last eight years an attempt has been made to repair the pavements on this small estate.
The worst part to this day has not been touched and is in a disgraceful state.
It is little wonder there are so many claims, many of them will be valid but the council, as usual blames the public for false claims.
Over a period we have seen the council confiscating any form of publicity supposedly on the pavement but yet, themselves erect monstrously large signs on the pavement with no reflective material on them to show up in the dark.
Cycle tracks, trolley racks etc are now erected on the pavements.
Clearly this is a position of do as I say not as I do.
