NOW that all the changes to Sunnybank Road, Bury, have been completed, I would make the following observations:
The various colours are quite striking, with black, white, orange/red, dark red, green, buff and white. Then there are the mini-roundabouts, where buses are permitted to stop, causing an obstruction; bollards seem to be strategically-placed to prevent vehicles passing those stationary buses, while also causing the buses to have to go around the wrong side of the bollards when delivery vehicles park outside Dillon's shop.
No one can remember any road accidents that would justify the vast expense of this unnecessary work. Small wonder that our rates climb when we employ such "geniuses" in our local town hall. Already several bumps and near misses have occurred. Will it take a more serious accident to justify a re-think?
By the way, do readers have any suggestions for a new name for the road?
