HAVING read Jim Homewood's informative letter (April 23) regarding the closures of sub post offices, I would like to remind readers of the time Bury's main post office in Crompton Street closed. The building is still unoccupied.
The chosen site was Forbuoys in The Haymarket where stationery, sweets and newspapers are sold. People have to queue like sheep for anything up to 30 minutes.
The sign on the front of the shop says Forbuoys in large letters, and "Post Office" on two small discs either side. In my experience, post office buildings usually look like post offices, but a stranger to Bury would have difficulty finding ours.
