RAMSBOTTOM Farmers' Market is celebrating its first birthday this weekend.
The town's mayor, Coun Wilf Davison, has been invited to cut the cake and sample some specially made Ramsbottom birthday jam on Sunday.
Since its launch, the market has gone from strength to strength and now takes place every second Sunday of the month in Ramsbottom Market Place and at Ramsbottom Civic Hall.
Trisha Willott, Bury Council's six towns co-ordinator, who helps promote the event, said: "The secret to its success is the vast array of produce that is on offer inside the civic hall as well as outside.
"Many of the stalls such as the local quality lamb, ostrich meat, fruit and vegetables, smoked produce, seafood, jams and preserves and cheeses have been available from the start.
"Not only is food sold at the market, unusual crafts and gifts are also availabl
e. All people are catered for- lavender products, fairy goods, home accessories and Forever Bury Beer to name just a few."
To celebrate the day, Rawtenstall's Britannia Coconutters will be dancing in the streets of Ramsbottom from 12.30pm onwards.
High Seas Seafood will also be giving some cookery displays on the day in Market Place, while visitors will be able sample the Ramsbottom birthday jam at the preserves stall.
