A WOMAN was trapped in her car for an hour after a crash at a notorious accident blackspot.
Lancashire County Council's highways chief, Coun Jean Yates, today said she wanted a solution quickly to the regular crashes on the A59 Sawley by-pass.
An eight-year-old girl, injured in the crash on Saturday morning, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Her mother, who was driving a Citroen C3, was cut free by firefighters, who shut the main road for two hours.
Two boys were also in the car.
Police said the driver of a Ford Ka, the other car involved, is believed to have lost control while travelling in the opposite direction. She was taken to hospital, suffering from fractures.
Before Saturday's accident, there had been five deaths on the A59 at Sawley since 1997, with a further four serious injuries reported.
Coun Yates said today she planned to find out why a camera had not been used at the site -- and what should be done to slow down the traffic.
