A HOUSE raider who sneaked into a family's house as they slept at night could end up in jail.
Burnley Magistrates Court heard how ex-convict Mohammed Hussain, 22, was spotted climbing into the house by a neighbour who alerted the police.
Hussain told officers he had nowhere to live and had to "rob" the premsies. He was found to have cannabis resin on him when arrested.
Hussain, of no fixed address, admitted burglary with intent to steal at the house on Cromwell Street, Burnley, and possessing cannabis. He was remanded in custody for sentence at Burnley Crown Court.
Bill Maude, prosecuting, told the court the family of six had gone to bed. The defendant was spotted climbing through the kitchen window at about 2.30am. The victims knew nothing about it.
A neighbour saw the defendant climb into the house, put a light on in the kitchen and go through cupboards. The man phoned police, officers arrived and saw the defendant climbing out of the front window. He ran away, was chased and was detained by police.
Richard Taylor, defending, said Hussain had come of jail two years ago and had been living with his mother. She had been supporting him, but two months ago told him she could not support him any longer.
