AROUND 5,600 Blackburn mill workers descended on Blackpool to celebrate the centenary of the Blackburn Weavers Winders and Warpers Association.
The trip, costing £9,000 and the result of three months of planning, saw youngsters heading for the pleasure beach and the women using their free passes to the Tower and Winter Garden ballrooms. Each member of the Association was given 10s spending money.
