A FORMER Oswaldtwistle workshop is to take on a new lease of life.
The one-time textile manufacturer on John Street is to be turned into a fun factory instead, and its decaying old machines have been replaced by modern adventure play equipment ready for the new venture.
The two local mums behind the venture - called Playtime! - hope it will provide a much-needed facility and meeting place in Oswaldtwistle, both for parents and their offspring alike.
Sisters Julie Hayhurst, 33, mum to Lauren, six, and former nurse Cathy Hopkins, 35, who has Caitlyn, five and Ryan, four, have invested almost £30,000 in the project- their first foray into business - and want it to win a welcome place in the community.
They both believe Oswaldtwistle needed a focal point for mums and youngsters to get together, make new friends and really enjoy themselves.
The fun factory will open on Saturday, May 15 and the pair and their family have been busy working flat out at the premises to get it ready for the big day.
Julie and Cathy acquired the premises just two months ago.
They immediately set to work getting rid of of the old machines and transforming the building into the ideal, safe, indoor adventure playground.
Julie, who lives with husband Paul and their daughter at Apple Tree Way, Oswaldtwistle, said:" It was horrendous.
"The walls were black. In fact everything was black."
Julie and Cathy are also considering starting up a mums and toddler group.
