RADCLIFFE Boro boss Kevin Glendon is hoping to agree a deal with highly rated keeper Danny Hurst on Tuesday.
If, as he hopes, Hurst agrees terms, the shot stopper will take the number of players re-signed to seven, following in the footsteps of Richard Battersby, Simon Kelly, Davey Luker, Tony Whealing, Simon Carden and Lee Duffy, who are all the proud possessors of new two-year contracts.
With the Shakers having announced their retained list, along with most other clubs, there are players becoming available on an almost daily basis.
However, Glendon took a realistic view of Boro's chances of attracting league players.
"The lads Bury have released will tend to try other league clubs first and then look at the Conference," he explained.
"If by October they've not got fixed up they'll then start to consider the likes of the Unibond, so I'll be concentrating on non-league lads for the time being."
It is believed he is on the verge of a possible deal with a Conference club and is understood to be monitoring the situation of a Second Division fringe player at a North West club.
Then there's the uncertain future of former Stainton Park cult hero, Jody Banim.
As much as he would like to have the marksman back leading his attack, Glendon rates the chances of that happening at the moment as slim.
"Shrewsbury play Aldershot in the Play-off final next week, so depending on how they do and where they end up I'll take it from there," he said.
"There's no two ways about it, Jody would love it if it worked out for him at Gay Meadow, but if it doesn't and another team in the Conference offered him a deal he'd jump at it.
"If nobody does then it opens up the doors to teams below the Conference and I'd like to think we've got as good a chance as anybody. But we have to accept we are down the pecking order, even though he loved his time at Stainton Park."
Glendon confirmed he will be talking to the remainder of his first team squad after Thursday night's Presentation Evening, and plans to announce details of some mouth-watering pre-season friendlies later in the week.
