IN response to story (LET, 1/4/04) Partners bank on transforming town.
This story explains that an agreement that has been reached with Bovis, and the Royal Bank of Scotland to invest money in the borough of Blackburn with Darwen.
A list in this story of places states that monies invested in the borough will go to a large scale regeneration projects in other areas of the borough such as the Infirmary and to develop land around Shadsworth, Barbara Castle Way and Freckleton Street bridge.
Plus, Mr Ron Dawson says "that these investments will start with the markets."
Mr Graham Burgess says that "this is an addition to our portfolio of partners who are making Blackburn with Darwen one of the boroughs at the cutting edge of regeneration."
The only cutting edge as far as any other part of the borough outside of Blackburn is concerned is being cut out off from any chance of investment or regeneration.
It's the same old story. Investments are sought under the guise of a borough that has 140,000 population but everyone outside Blackburn knows that all these investments will go to Blackburn.
