A WOMAN who has supported a Burnley animal charity for nearly 30 years is to receive an award in recognition of her hard work.
Irene Jameson will receive the Horses and Ponies Protection Association's (HAPPA) Admiral Memorial Trophy for the work she has done for the charity.
Mrs Jameson began her association with HAPPA in 1978.
During her time she has run the HAPPA Fylde Support Group, worked with officers dealing with animal cruelty complaints and was vice-chairman until her retirement last year.
She now is the honorary vice-president.
The annual award is presented to volunteers of the charity who have gone out of their way to help.
Mrs Jameson will receive her award at a ceremony held at the charity's visitor centre, Halifax Road, Briercliffe, today.
