THE Friends of Memorial Park have received a £500 grant towards an ecological survey in the Great Harwood park's roundabout plantation.
The grant from the Lancashire Environmental Action Fund will allow John Lamb, a conservation officer from the Lancashire Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside to examine flowering plants, breeding birds and mosses as well as various species of mammals, butterflies and fungi in the autumn.
A report will be be produced on species and their status, site enhancements, opportunities for community involvement and other ideas.
