AN ATTACK victim told a jury he was stabbed after going to a house ask why his wife had been subjected to verbal abuse.

Aswar Amin said he had not wanted a fight when he went round to the address on Devon Road, Blackburn and alleged that he went on to be knifed a total of five times.

The 22-year-old was giving evidence at the trial of the man accused of wounding him, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Qasim Mika, 18, of Walworth Road, London, denies the charge.

The prosecution alleges that Mika made a sexual remark to Mr Amin's wife and Mr Amin later went round to an address on Devon Road about the matter. Tony Longworth, prosecuting, claims that Mika voluntarily went out of the house with a knife and that Mr Amin was stabbed several times.

Speaking through an interpreter, Mr Amin said that his wife, who had been out that night, was angry and crying on returning home. She complained about a man using abusive words towards her.

He went round to Devon Road to ask the man why she had been subjected to abuse. He said he did not go there intending to fight and did not have a weapon with him.

Mr Amin said the defendant came to the door. He asked him why he had used bad words. He went on: "He came out to fight. He had a knife in his hand and it was clear that he came out to fight. I found a wooden stick. He waved the knife and then I hit him with the wooden stick and he managed to stab me."

Mika told police during questioning that he had not had a knife or stabbed anyone.
