A KURDISH asylum seeker, accused of racially insulting policewomen and brandishing knives in a public place, has been remanded in custody by Bury magistrates.
Khalid Namis, aged 26, of Louis Avenue, Bury, faces charges of behaviour likely to cause fear of provocation of violence which was also racially aggravated, possessing a craft knife and kitchen knives in a public place, and indecently exposing himself in Peel Way.
An application for bail was refused and Namis, whose application for asylum has been refused, will be brought back to court on May 18 when he will have to submit pleas to the charges.
