BLACKBURN Infirmary and Technical College joined forces in a "catch 'em young" cadet scheme set up to train teenage nursing students.
The first 12 nursing cadets took up their new roles at the infirmary after the scheme abolished the gap between 15- and 18-year-olds when girls too young to become nurses went into other jobs and were lost to the profession.
