WENDY Lewis, one of Westleigh High School's adult education heroes has been named Adult Learner of the Year for the North West and Merseyside.
The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education award means Wendy will be off to London for the national award ceremony.
A delighted Wendy said: "Westleigh High School and staff that I have been involved with have inspired and nurtured me through my learning adventure. Without them I would not have entered into any of this.
"Going back into education has been the best thing I have done, but without the support of these people and -- most importantly -- my husband David and my family, I couldn't have managed. Thank you everyone".
Jayne Kumah, Westleigh's Community Development Manager said: "I nominated Wendy as her learning journey from an introduction course to now teaching has been an inspiration.
"We are fortunate that she continues to pass on her knowledge of 'Holistic Therapy' to our Adult Learners. She continues to develop her own skills which is brilliant, there is no stopping her now!"
Westleigh head John Pout added: "A few years ago we had 20 adults a year using the school for Adult Education. Now it is over 400 per week. I am delighted for Wendy. She fully deserves the praise.
"Westleigh High School is increasingly becoming the hub of the community life and I am very happy that so many local people use the school's facilities to better themselves. "
