GOLBORNE Parkside RL entertained the crew from the Royal Navy's biggest ship HMS Sultan on Saturday and made new friends as the young Golborne side turned on another display of their skills and talents to run out winners by 68-14.
The Navy team had taken a box the night before at the Wigan v Widnes game as part of their tour and were well lead by captain LPT Mark Brocklesby.
Both teams learned from each other, Golborne the fitness that the Navy team displayed and the Sultan team the intensity and skills that Golborne showed.
Golborne scored 14 tries from Anthony Spiers 2, Craig Timmins, Rob Dooley, Andy Simms, Stuart Goulding, Leon Davy, Jay Wright, Craig Ashall, Stuart Naylor, Gareth Sherman, Kevin Marsden, Mark Pilling and Stuart Arkwright. Leon Davy kicked six conversions.
The Sultan team gave a good performance despite not playing at this intensity every week and scored impressive tries from Ryan Lemmon, Keith Tickle and Andy Crichton with one conversion by Paul Hamer.
